Meet The Doctors

Dr. Sherif Warda, DDS

Dr. Warda was born in Houston Texas. He moved to Alexandria, Egypt, as a child. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and subsequently a Bachelor’s in Dental Science in Alexandria. After returning to the United States, Dr. Warda attended USC School of dentistry, where he earned his doctoral degree in 2010. He practiced general dentistry for two years, and then enrolled in the periodontal residency at UCLA School of Dentistry in 2012, completing this in 2015. This program provided Dr. Warda a high level of training in periodontics, dental implant surgery, periodontal microsurgery and sedation. He also earned a Master’s degree in Oral Biology during his studies at UCLA. Shortly after completing his residency, Dr. Warda took written and oral examinations and attained the status of Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology. He is highly trained in full mouth rehabilitation and complex aesthetic procedures. Since completing his training Dr. Warda has worked in several general dentist offices in the Los Angeles area, and has taught part-time at UCLA before he settled on the Monterey Peninsula. He also has found time to volunteer providing periodontal care for children and others in many philanthropic events in the Los Angeles area as well as foreign countries.

Dr. Lloyd Nattkemper

Lloyd Nattkemper is a California native, growing up in Southern California.  He attended Mission Viejo High School, college at the University of California at Irvine and received his dental training at U.C. San Francisco, where he received both a bachelor’s and doctoral degree in dentistry in 1983.  He was elected into membership of Omichron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society  upon graduation, and received the American College of Dentists’ award for exemplary professionalism.

Lloyd subsequently completed residencies in general practice and periodontics at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Medical Center while teaching and attending classes at U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry.  He maintains a private practice limited to periodontics, periodontal plastic surgery and implant surgery in Monterey, California.  From the time he established his practice, Dr. Nattkemper has devoted himself to providing the most comfortable, predictable and esthetic periodontal treatment possible; he incorporated the dental operating microscope into his practice in 1995 to help make this a daily reality.  He counts among his mentors Drs. Dennis Shanelec, Peter Nordland, P.D. Miller, Anna Pattison, Arthur Dugoni, Kirk Pasquinelli, Dennis Smiler and Ray Yukna.

Dr. Nattkemper has made educating others a part of his profession since first beginning practice.  He taught as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry from 1986 until 1995.  Lloyd has lectured and has taught as a clinical instructor in the Dental Hygiene School at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California  since 1995, and is proud to work with many of his graduates who practice in the area. In addition, he has served on the faculty of the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute in Newport Beach, California as an instructor in use of the dental operating microscope since 2005.  Dentists and periodontists from around the world attend NCOFI for this advanced training.

Dr. Nattkemper participates actively in several professional dental organizations.  He has served on the board of the Monterey Bay Dental Society continually since 1993, chaired the Society's Give Kids A Smile event for three years,  in which hundreds of children in need of dental care were treated at no cost, and currently serves as editor of the Monterey Bay Dental Society’s newsletter, the Monterey Bay SmileLine.  Dr. Nattkemper is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology , California Society of Periodontists, Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons and the Academy of Laser Dentistry .  He is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists   He was elected "Dentist of the Year" by his dental society in 2003 for his work in coordinating Give Kids A Smile, and served as President of the Monterey Bay Dental Society in 2005-2006. 

When he is away from the office, Lloyd enjoys playing saxophone with Monterey’s own 16 piece big band, the Clicktrax Jazz Orchestra and the Monterey Saxophone Quartet.  Lloyd has played saxophone since he was 8 years old.  He also sings bass in Urban Renewal, a vocal jazz ensemble in Monterey   

He is also an avid athlete—cycling around the Monterey Peninsula and in other parts of the world, and bodybuilding since college.  During his residency, Lloyd trained at World Gym in Santa Monica, alongside many professional bodybuilders and celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger , Lou Ferrigno , Frank Zane , RachelMcLish , Joe Gold  and Sylvester Stallone .  Lloyd also enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, working on and driving his '56 Chevy pickup, travel and time spent with his family and friends.
